Harare – In a major step towards strengthening the pipeline of local football talent, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has formed a Coaches Committee to support the Warriors—Zimbabwe’s men’s national football team.

The committee, made up of experienced football figures Joel Luphahla, Tonderai Ndiraya, and Joey Antipas, was elected through an internal vote by Premier Soccer League (PSL) coaches. It is expected to serve as a vital link between local PSL coaches and the Warriors' technical team.

ZIFA said the initiative was spearheaded by Warriors head coach Marian Marinaca, who is pushing for greater collaboration and unity within Zimbabwe’s coaching fraternity.

“This initiative underscores ZIFA’s commitment to inclusive technical development and stronger cooperation between the Premier Soccer League and national football structures,” the association said in a statement.

With preparations underway for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the committee’s mandate will be to identify, nurture, and recommend local talent capable of strengthening the national squad.

ZIFA expressed gratitude to Coach Marinaca for his “openness, professionalism, and collaborative spirit” and extended best wishes to the newly appointed committee members.

The move is expected to bring fresh energy and structure to talent scouting and development in Zimbabwean football.
