On Saturday, 04 October 2025, ZAPAR Corp proudly marked its 45th anniversary at the Belgravia Sports Club along Harare’s Mazoe Road, celebrating decades of effective and efficient pay and records delivery to Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) members.
ZAPAR, an acronym born after the 1980 integration of Rhodesian, ZIPRA, and ZANLA forces following Zimbabwe’s independence, has a rich history rooted in rigorous selection through a mathematics exam and a steadfast commitment to the Corps’ mission. Since its first celebration in October 1983 at the Charles Gumbo Barracks, the Corps has fostered unity and motivation among its members drawn from various ZNA units.
The anniversary week featured intense sports competitions culminating in a thrilling soccer final where Parol A triumphed over Parol B with a 3-1 victory. The day’s main event began at 9 a.m., graced by the guest of honor, Brigadier General Rangwani, Staff Administration. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the event’s organization and venue, praising the dedication of the Director of Pay and Records (DPAR), Colonel J D Moyo, who rose from a junior Non-Commissioned Member to lead the Corps.
Highlighting the Corps’ motto, “Celebrating 45 years of an effective and efficient pay and records delivery system to the ZNA members,” Brig Gen Rangwani applauded the tireless commitment of ZAPAR members, especially their weekend efforts around paydays. He underscored the recent successful Basic ZAPAR course, aligned with the Commander Zimbabwe National Army’s vision to address manpower shortages.
Security awareness was a key message, as the Corps handles sensitive personnel files. Brig Gen Rangwani stressed the importance of safeguarding confidential information and maintaining high security standards.
The event’s success was bolstered by generous sponsorship from companies including Ndasenda, Tottengram, Stanbic Bank, Golden Knot, Zim Nat, NMB Bank, Doves, Nyaradzo, and CABS. The guest of honor extended gratitude to these partners for their invaluable support.
As the celebrations concluded, Brig Gen Rangwani left the Corps with inspiring words of encouragement and hope, reinforcing the spirit of resilience and dedication that has defined ZAPAR for 45 years.
