South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been disinvited from the G7 summit in Evian, France, due to pressure from the United States. The South African presidency attributes the withdrawal to sustained US pressure, with reports indicating the US threatened to boycott the summit if South Africa attended .

The move follows months of tension between the US and South Africa, with President Donald Trump criticizing South Africa's racial justice policies and imposing 30% tariffs on South African exports. The US has also clashed with South Africa over its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Despite the disinvitation, South Africa maintains its commitment to constructive dialogue with the US, emphasizing that diplomatic relations between the two countries predate the Trump administration and will outlast it .
