"Unpacking the genius of Tocky Vibes: Mashangurapata"

Mashangurapata is a testament to his dedication  and passion for music. Going for a century is no easy feat, it is a monumental task that requires immense creativity and hardwork.

Kudos to him for pushing the limits and challenging the norms. When the album came out we all thought he had lost his mind and possibly urgent and private calls were being made to Matrix. 

Well that is before you actually get to listen to some of the tracks. We swallowed a very bitter pill prescribed as pride and gave a listen to the album. 

Reality suddenly donned on us upon realising we were wrong to conclude like everybody else.  Yes! Tocky did that which many if not few or none would dare imagine.

In no particular order, yes we havent yet played and listened to all songs but of the few listened to we acquired wisdom nuggets. 

 'Kweche- kweche ' challenging one to take a bold step and push any obstacle in the way as success is imminent we have to stop at nothing and have to keep pushing. With determination, willpower and courage victory is certain.

The title track itself 'Mashangurapata loosely translated means wasting away on one's effort. However, plot twist on this one he talks of the desires we all have to achieve something in life such that when our time here is come we will have a story to tell of the good fight fought while trying to make it in this life. ' Mweya wako ungazorora sei ukange wafa uchitambura? an open question to what and how you are managing your life. What will the epitaph of your life say.

It is not all about achieving success but about the journey, fight and the lessons learned along the way.

Then we took a love potion with ' Dai Uri Wangu ' When distance makes the heart grow fonder. The more you are not with the one you love simply because you cannot find the right words to say to get them closer the more you keep yearning of a love so near yet so far. Hoping one sweet day eventually you will be together.

On the other hand also we would say Tocky here is challenge the beholder, he who has the lover. Calling him off and making himself a better man as compared the one currently 'entangled' with the love of his dreams a desired fantasy.

We let loose a bit with ' Panorohwa Ngoma' a joyful song a club banger. Throwing caution to the wind allowing no worry at all. Having a moment to enjoy life for there is so much to live for.

Love does make the world go round, we apparently fell on ' Ex a classical representation of stubbornly still in love. Clinically reminding their ex that the heart wants what it wants and in its wanting it could still beat for the same person that it once stopped beating for.

Tocky could secretly be a charmer boy 'yuwi, yuwie nhai veduweeeee ndhandi go round' he gave us 'Ndipe featuring  Mr Attention and Bleqboi tha Don' an open declaration to love. Beautifully serenading and hypnotizing the lover asking to be openly loved. Promising an eternity to all things lovely with love being the goal.

This is just but a snippet of Mashangurapata clearly showing this wasn't wasted effort. It is worth hearing.

Chamakuvangu did something remarkable with this album. It is clear he poured his heart and soul into it. Exploring themes of perseverance,love and self discovery.
