TSCZ Deploys Free Ambulances At Accident Hotspots Nationwide.

The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has partnered with Discovery Ambulance Services to deploy ambulances at major accident hotspots across the country. The initiative provides free emergency transport for road users involved in accidents, ferrying victims from crash scenes to medical facilities at no cost.

TSCZ chief executive Munesu Munodawafa said the rollout covers key routes nationwide, with ambulances deployed in areas such as Wedza, 22 Miles, Beitbridge, and Chiredzi. He added that hotspots with a high frequency of accidents, like Makuti in Karoi and Connemara in Midlands, have dedicated ambulances for rapid emergency response.

Discovery Ambulance Services founder and chief executive David Munowenyu said the partnership aims to save lives and enhance emergency response. Ambulances will be stationed at 100-kilometre intervals along major routes, ensuring timely medical assistance.

Munowenyu emphasized the importance of prompt medical attention, citing the "golden hour" theory, which suggests that timely medical help increases chances of survival in emergency situations. He encouraged those in need to call the toll-free number, 991, for a free ambulance.
