The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed Romanian tactician Mario Marinică as the new head coach of the Warriors, effective immediately.

Marinică 61, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously helmed national teams in Malawi and Liberia.

With a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in football, Marinică is set to lead the Warriors in upcoming matches, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and friendlies against Qatar and Algeria.

ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi expressed delight in welcoming Marinică, citing his modern football philosophy as a significant asset.

Marinică's impressive resume includes stints at top clubs in Romania, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Iraq, and Hungary, as well as experience in England's football academies.

Marinică takes over from Michael Nees, who was recently relieved of his duties due to disappointing results.

At times i think ZIFA just gets fascinated by names. Nobody saw this coming we had our hopes or rayher anticipations pinned on Redknapp, Peter Ndlovu and maybe Pitso
