The Zimbabwe Republic Police have intercepted a major shipment of illicit substances along the Harare-Beitbridge Road, involving a haulage truck owned by Chita One Investments. The operation led to the recovery of 221 kilograms of dagga, compressed into 14 large bales. Additionally, law enforcement officers seized a substantial quantity of unregistered and restricted cough syrups commonly used as intoxicants. The inventory of recovered medicines includes 1,550 bottles of Broncleer, 960 bottles of Benylin, and 810 bottles of Astra pain syrup, all in 100ml units .


The ZRP shared images of the seized exhibits on their official social media platforms as part of their ongoing “No to drug peddling and illicit substances” campaign. While the vehicle and its cargo have been secured, the police have not yet released specific details regarding the arrests of the driver or crew members involved in the transit .

This recent bust is part of the ZRP's efforts to combat drug smuggling and abuse in the country. In recent months, the police have been working tirelessly to disrupt drug trafficking networks, with significant seizures reported at Beitbridge and other border posts .
