A 55-year-old Geography teacher at Makoni Secondary School in Masvingo rural is facing assault charges after allegedly striking a fellow drinker with a walking crutch during a beer drinking session. Tanyongana Runatsa is accused of hitting Tawanda Chateuka above the right eye after Chateuka asked Runatsa what Geography is.
The incident occurred on September 13, 2025, at Chatikobo Business Centre under Chief Murinye. Chateuka sustained injuries and reported the matter to the police. Runatsa is currently facing charges of assault and is set to appear before Masvingo Magistrate Caroline Tafira Nyoni
