In a recent revelation, Sadio Mané opened up about his decision to join Liverpool over Manchester United. The Senegalese forward shared that he initially rejected Manchester United due to Louis van Gaal's lukewarm pitch and the club's star-studded squad.

Mané recalled, "I wasn't convinced by what Van Gaal said, and with all the stars already there, I asked myself, 'How am I supposed to play with all those stars?' I ultimately refused the move."

However, things took a dramatic turn when Tottenham Hotspur came calling. Mané visited the club's headquarters, met with Mauricio Pochettino, and was impressed by the facilities. "Honestly, I was more convinced by Tottenham's project at the time than Manchester United's," he admitted.

But just as Mané was about to seal a deal with Tottenham, Jürgen Klopp swooped in with a life-changing phone call. Mané recounted, "We're going to build a team that no one will want to play against! And you'll be a starter in every single game!" Those words sealed the deal for Mané. "Immediately after Klopp's call, I said, 'This is my team! I want it!' I agreed to join Liverpool, despite the fact that they weren't playing in the Champions League at the time."
