The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has urged members of the public to promptly report road defects to prevent accidents and loss of lives. In a statement posted on its X account, the Ministry said once defects are reported, they will be attended to in the shortest possible time to ensure that minor issues do not escalate into major hazards.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safe, reliable, and well-maintained roads for all citizens. "Our ongoing, significant investment in rehabilitating and maintaining the national road network is central to our mandate," the statement read. The Ministry said urgent road defects on Regional, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary roads can be reported directly to provincial roads engineers across the country.
The Ministry urged the public to become active partners in road maintenance by reporting potholes and other urgent defects. "Prompt reports enable faster response, efficient resource allocation, and prevent minor issues from becoming hazards. As articulated by His Excellency, the President, Cde Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, our inclusive road efforts support the drive of leaving no one and no place behind," the Ministry said.
Dedicated hotlines have been established in every province, and members of the public are encouraged to send clear photos or videos showing the defects, together with precise location details.- Source : new Zimbabwe
