President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabweans to remain united and committed to the country's national vision as the new year begins. In his New Year address, the President stressed that every citizen has a role to play in building a prosperous Zimbabwe founded on justice, equity, and social cohesion.
President Mnangagwa called on all citizens, including those in the Diaspora, to harness their collective will, knowledge, skills, and resources for the good of the country. The President highlighted the importance of the recently launched National Development Strategy 2, which will guide national development over the next five years. He called on citizens to remain vigilant in safeguarding unity, peace, and social cohesion, noting that achievements recorded across various sectors in 2025 provide a solid foundation for greater success in the years ahead.
The President also appealed to law enforcement agencies and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe to remain alert during the festive period. He urged motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the country's roads and called for intensified efforts to combat drug and substance abuse.
President Mnangagwa encouraged farmers to take advantage of the current wet spell to ensure household and national food security. He also warned communities to remain cautious during the rainy season due to risks such as flash floods, drowning, and traffic accidents.
In conclusion, the President wished Zimbabweans a prosperous new year, saying, "God bless you all. God bless Zimbabwe."
