President Emmerson Mnangagwa is currently at the National Shrine, presiding over the burial of the late Brigadier General (Rtd) Mark Charles Chimwaza. The decorated soldier served in the Zimbabwe National Army for decades, rising through the ranks from Private in 1982 to Brigadier General in 2021.
Chimwaza's distinguished career spanned 39 years, with key milestones including his promotions to Lieutenant (1985), Captain (1990), Major (1998), Lieutenant Colonel (2006), Colonel (2018), and ultimately Brigadier General (2021).
