Former Zimbabwean football star Benjamin Mwaruwari has taken the helm at Highlanders FC, vowing to rebuild the team into a competitive force this season. Mwaruwari's impressive start, winning a pre-season match against Bulawayo Chiefs, has boosted confidence among supporters and the club.

Highlanders FC, founded in 1926 as Lions FC, is a historic Zimbabwean institution, known as "Bosso," deeply rooted in Ndebele identity. This year, the team celebrates 100 years of existence.

Mwaruwari is assessing the squad, indicating a hands-on approach to evaluating his players. The club has signed Kudakwashe Mahachi, who has played for top clubs like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Highlanders FC faces Bulawayo Chiefs in their opening game, with Mwaruwari promising to deliver three points.
