A 32-year-old Mutare man, Dickson Nyamura, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing vehicles in Mozambique and smuggling them into Zimbabwe through an illegal crossing point. Nyamura, of Area 3 Dangamvura, was convicted of three counts of motor vehicle theft and sentenced by Mutare magistrate Mr Poterai Gwezhira, with three years suspended on condition of good behaviour.

Nyamura targeted parked vehicles in Manica, Mozambique, stealing them at night and driving them into Zimbabwe through the Burma Valley illegal crossing point. He stole a red Honda Fit, another Honda Fit, and a white Toyota Hiace, selling one to Mr Joseph Takunda Muzimba. The vehicles, valued at US$9,500, were recovered after investigations led to Nyamura's arrest .
