Mozambique's President, Daniel Francisco Chapo, has promised the national football team, known as the Mambas, a bonus of 500,000 meticais (approximately $7,800) each if they beat Nigeria in the upcoming Round of 16 match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.


This promise comes as a motivation for the team to overcome their upcoming challenge against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on January 5, 2026. Follow & Share Our WhatsApp Channel

The Mambas have had a remarkable journey in the tournament, qualifying for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams after beating Gabon 3-2 in the group stage.

However, they faced a tough loss in their final group match against Cameroon, losing 2-1. Despite this, the team is determined to make a mark in the tournament .

The bonus promise is part of President Chapo's congratulatory message to the team for their historic qualification.

He expressed pride in the team's courage and discipline, which led to their qualification for the Round of 16. 

The match against Nigeria is expected to be a tough one, given Nigeria's impressive performance in the group stage .
