Rosita Salvador Mabuiango, the "miracle baby" born in a tree above Mozambique's raging floodwaters in 2000, has passed away at just 25.

Her mum, Carolina Cecilia Chirindza, had climbed the tree seeking refuge from the devastating Limpopo river floods and gave birth in an incredible, heart-stopping moment.

The floods killed hundreds, displaced thousands but Rosita survived. Dubbed a miracle, she faced life's battles, including a long fight against anaemia.

Her condition worsened recently and she passed away in hospital on Monday morning

"I'm extremely sad," her sister Celia told BBC.

May Rosita's soul rest in peace. Condolences to the family.
