The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in the Midlands Province has launched a manhunt for a man suspected of murdering his wife in Gweru.

Nhlalo Darlington Baloyi (37), also known as Khaye, is wanted in connection with the death of his wife, Patricia Nyathi (32). The incident occurred in the early hours of 2 March 2026 at their home in Mkoba 4. The couple had been living together since December 2025. Baloyi is an artisanal miner based in Shurugwi.

According to police reports, the couple became involved in a heated argument around 3:00 AM after Baloyi accused Nyathi, who was outside doing laundry, of being unfaithful. During the dispute, Baloyi allegedly went into the house and retrieved a vehicle shock absorber.

The victim's 13-year-old daughter, Sibotwe Siobanda, reportedly attempted to stop him from attacking her mother. However, Baloyi later returned with a hammer and allegedly struck Nyathi several times on the head, causing her death.

The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police say his current whereabouts remain unknown despite ongoing investigations.

Baloyi is originally from Mkonto Village under Chief Ntabeni in Zhombe.

The ZRP is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station. Information can also be submitted via the ZRP WhatsApp number, 0712 800 197.
