Tapiwa Felix Chikondo, the bodyguard of PHD founder Walter Magaya, has had his fresh bail application denied. Chikondo is charged with obstruction of justice, allegedly for interfering with one of Magaya's alleged rape victims and her family.

Presiding magistrate, Ms. Ruth Moyo, ruled that there were no changed circumstances warranting Chikondo's release pending trial. Chikondo's defense argued that his previous acquittal on similar charges made him a suitable candidate for bail. However, the court disagreed.

The current charges stem from investigations initiated in November last year regarding a rape allegation against Magaya at Braeside Police Station. Chikondo allegedly contacted the victim and her family, urging them not to cooperate with the police and promising compensation for the alleged offense. He also allegedly sent US$200 to the victim's mother via an Ecocash agent.

Chikondo was previously acquitted of assaulting police officers in an attempt to prevent Magaya's arrest at his prayer mountain in Waterfalls. The case highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding Magaya and his associates .
