As we mark 34 years since the devastating Nyanga bus disaster in 1991, we remember the 80+ lives lost and the countless families affected.
The tragic accident, which occurred when a bus carrying Regina Coeli High School students and teachers returning from Catholic Association Games in Rusape, claimed an unprecedented number of lives in Zimbabwe's road accident history.
The 12 survivors, some of whom suffered life-changing injuries, trauma and loss, have shown remarkable resilience.
However, they continue to need support. I urge the Zimbabwean government to consider providing assistance to these survivors, acknowledging their ongoing needs and the lasting impact of this tragedy.
Let us honor the memories of those lost and show compassion to those who survived, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.
