In a significant move to bridge the digital divide, Kariba Constituency Member of Parliament, Honourable Shine Gwangwaba, has announced that the long-standing network connectivity challenges plaguing his community are set to become "a talk of the past."
The MP's declaration came on Friday, October 17th, 2025, during an inspection visit to a new network booster station under construction at the strategic Chiweshe Mountain. The site is poised to be a lifeline for an area that has struggled with poor or non-existent mobile network coverage.
Expressing optimism about the project's progress, Honourable Gwangwaba confirmed that the critical groundwork has been laid. "Currently, solar panels have been installed and necessary equipment to ensure efficient connectivity," he stated, affirming that the construction is being "properly done to ensure efficiency in network provision."
With the essential components installed, the project is now in its final stages. "We are hoping that in a short period of time the whole work will be completed," the MP added, offering reassurance to his constituents. "I want to assure Kariba constituency that all is underway for network connectivity and the contractors are doing final touch ups."
The MP highlighted the critical importance of connectivity in the modern era, framing it as a necessity rather than a luxury. "No area should be left behind in terms of network since in this era everything almost relies on network and technologies," he commented, acknowledging the profound impact a reliable signal will have on communication, business, education, and access to services for the local population.
Honourable Gwangwaba also extended his gratitude to the various stakeholders driving the project forward. He specifically thanked the network providers for their "collaboration and cooperation," a partnership essential for ensuring comprehensive area coverage. He also praised the contractors on the ground for their "dedication and commitment," recognising the urgency of the community's need for the booster.
For the residents of Kariba Constituency, the completion of the Chiweshe Mountain booster cannot come soon enough, promising to finally connect them to the digital world and end their prolonged isolation – Dagmedia: https://www.dagmedia.co.zw/
