The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has issued a public alert after inmate Jeffrey Jingura escaped from Harare Central Prison. Jingura absconded while working on a motor vehicle as part of the prison's vocational training program in motor mechanics.


The ZPCS has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape and has reported the matter to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for further action. The correctional service has assured the public that it remains committed to maintaining a secure environment and rehabilitating inmates.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any information that may lead to Jingura's recapture. The public is advised not to approach him but to contact the nearest police station or ZPCS emergency lines on 0242 706501 or 0242 762724.

The ZPCS has assured the nation that efforts are ongoing to resolve the matter swiftly and safeguard community safety, noting that escape incidents are rare and security measures are being strengthened to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
