The 5th Edition of the National Annual Science, Sports and Arts Festival (NASSAF) was officially opened and closed today by the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Angeline Gata, at Chancellor Primary School in Mutare, Manicaland Province.

In her keynote address, Hon. Gata praised the festival for advancing the objectives of Zimbabwe’s Heritage-Based Curriculum (HBC). She highlighted how NASSAF promotes active participation in science, sports, and the arts through activities that showcase the skills, knowledge, and values learners have acquired. She commended the pupils for their innovative projects, which blend traditional crafts and cultural performances with modern science and technology, calling NASSAF a “true reflection of education that produces for life and work.”

The Deputy Minister also took the opportunity to counsel learners against drug and substance abuse, urging them to focus on developing skills that empower individuals and transform communities.

The festival, which brings together young talents from across the country, continues to be a vibrant platform celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich heritage and the future potential of its youth.

Looking ahead, the 6th Edition of NASSAF is scheduled to be hosted next year by Matabeleland South Province.
