The headmaster of Mbuyamaswa Primary School in Zaka appeared before Zaka Magistrate Grace Tupiri on a rape charge after allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old Form 2 learner from nearby Mutevhure Secondary School. Alexander Gwara (64), from Manhubvu Village in Chief Ndanga, Zaka, was arrested on March 5, 2026, and is charged with rape under Section 65(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
According to prosecutor David Mavenga, the incident occurred on November 2025 at around 1:20 PM. The complainant had visited Mbuyamaswa Primary School with a friend and encountered Gwara in the schoolyard. He allegedly asked them to fetch water, promising US$2, but only paid one dollar. The next day, the girls went to Gwara's house to collect the balance, where he allegedly lled the complainant into his room and raped her.
The abuse was revealed on March 2, 2026, when the girl's mother noticed her crying. The complainant disclosed the assault, leading to Gwara's arrest. He remains in custody, pending his next court appearance on March 11, 2026.
