The Government of Zimbabwe, through Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, has announced that all local suppliers and contractors will now be paid exclusively in the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency. This policy, introduced on 15 March 2026, aims to accelerate the de-dollarization of public procurement in the country.

According to the minister, the policy requires government departments to settle payments to local contractors in ZiG instead of foreign currency. This move is part of efforts to strengthen the local currency and reduce reliance on the US dollar.  Follow our WhatsApp Channel
