Elderly Motorist Crashes into Shop at Northend Shopping Centre

An elderly driver crashed his vehicle into a shop at Northend Shopping Centre on Friday, January 2, 2026, at around 4 pm. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the shop suffered significant damage. According to eyewitnesses, the driver claimed he had mistakenly engaged reverse gear, causing the accident. After crashing into the shop, the driver attempted to reverse and flee the scene but was stopped by bystanders who blocked his way. The incident left the shop owner counting losses.

The elderly motorist, who was wearing a white T-shirt, allegedly drove out of the parking bay and slammed into the shopfront. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the sound of crashing and screams filling the air.
