The Government has launched a festive season drug and substance abuse awareness campaign targeting motorists and communities along major highways and high-traffic areas. The campaign, running from today until December 24, aims to address growing concerns over rising drug use during the holiday period.

The initiative will cover key routes, including Harare-Beitbridge, Harare-Mutare, Harare-Chirinda, Harare-Plumtree, and the Nyamapanda-Mukumbura highway. Outreach activities will also be conducted in high-density and peri-urban areas around Harare.

According to Mr. Fanwell Dzoma, Deputy Director for Drug and Substance Abuse in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, the campaign is coordinated by the National Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse, established in 2021 to address increasing drug abuse in Zimbabwe
