A 52-year-old man from Bulawayo's Sizinda suburb has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for r@ping his tenant's 11-year-old daughter. Matthew Banda was found guilty by Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla of two counts of r@pe, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The court heard that Banda invited the girl to his room in December 2024, blindfolded her, and assaulted her. He threatened to harm her if she told anyone, and targeted her again later that month. The abuse was revealed when the girl's mother noticed changes in her behavior, leading to Banda's arrest.
