At the European Football Clubs' general assembly in Rome, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin delivered a stirring call to remember the true heart of football  far beyond the balance sheets and entertainment value. “Football is not just about balance sheets. It's not just entertainment. It's life in our communities, the streets, the clubs and the fans which shape it,” Ceferin emphasized, warning that drifting too far from these roots risks breaking the very soul of the game.

His message resonates deeply in today’s uncertain world. “In uncertain times football is our anchor and gives us a common ground, a joy we can share,” he said. Football, Ceferin explained, is a constant presence reliable and lasting offering connection and comfort whether times are good or bad.

As Europe grapples with political, economic, and social challenges, Ceferin believes football plays a vital role in holding the continent together. “When Europe faces great political, economic and social challenges we need something which holds us together. Football has that power and we must preserve it,” he declared.

Looking forward with optimism, Ceferin expressed hope that football will continue to prosper and inspire because it is rooted in strength strength drawn from the communities, fans, and clubs that breathe life into the sport.

In his powerful address, Ceferin reminded us all that football is more than a game. It is a unifying force, a source of hope and joy, and an unbreakable part of Europe's cultural fabric. As challenges loom, football stands firm  a beacon of resilience and unity for generations to come.
